How Much Does it Cost to go to Disney World?

A 7-night Walt Disney World vacation for a family of four costs about $7,000 to $15,000 USD in 2026–2027. Most families land around $9,000 to $10,000 with a Disney value resort, 5-day tickets, Lightning Lane Multi Pass and quick-service meals. Tickets and hotels make up more than half the bill.

That’s a big jump from a couple of years ago. One-day tickets now top $200 on peak days, theme park parking is $35, and value resorts can pass $300 a night. The good news: Disney resort guests now park for free, kids ate free on the 2026 dining plan, and off-peak dates are still reasonable.

The budgets below assume two adults and two kids aged 3 to 9, 7 nights, and 5 park days, which is enough time to see all four theme parks without rushing.

Key numbers at a glance

  • 1-day ticket: $119–$219 plus tax, depending on park and date
  • 5-day ticket: roughly $600–$775 per person, or about $120–$155 a day
  • Disney hotels: about $150–$450 (value), $300–$600 (moderate), $500+ (deluxe) per night
  • Lightning Lane Multi Pass: $16–$45 per person, per day
  • Food: $50–$100 per person, per day
  • Theme park parking: $35 a day, free for Disney resort guests

While there are ways to save, this is typically a trip where families with splurge.

How much does Disney World cost for a family of four?

Expect to spend about $7,100 on a tight budget, $9,800 for a typical trip and $14,900 if you splurge. Here’s how each budget breaks down for 7 nights and 5 park days.

How much are Disney World tickets in 2026 and 2027?

A one-day Disney World ticket costs $119 to $219 USD plus tax, depending on the park and the date. Disney uses date-based pricing, so the same ticket can cost $80 more on a holiday than on a quiet weekday in January.

ParkLowest 1-day priceHighest 1-day price (2027)
Animal Kingdom$119$189
EPCOT$129$214
Hollywood Studios$139$209
Magic Kingdom$139$219

Child tickets (ages 3 to 9) are only $5 less than adult tickets, and kids under 3 are free.

Multi-day tickets are much cheaper per day

The longer your ticket, the less you pay per day. A 4-day ticket averages about $659 in 2026, and going all the way to 10 days adds only about $216 more. A typical 7-day ticket works out to roughly $105 a day. Of course, unless you’re a major Disney fan, it’s unlikely you’ll visit for more than 5 days.

For most families, 4 or 5 park days is the sweet spot: one day per park, plus a spare day for favourites.

How much does Lightning Lane cost?

Lightning Lane Multi Pass costs about $16 to $45 per person, per day, depending on the park and date. It replaced FastPass and Genie+ and lets you pre-book shorter lines for most rides.

Lightning Lane optionWhat it doesPrice per person (2026)
Multi PassBook 3 rides in advance, then more as you go$16–$17 (Animal Kingdom) to $32–$45 (Magic Kingdom)
Single PassOne ride each on the most popular attractions$12–$25 per ride
Premier PassOne Lightning Lane entry to every ride in one park, no time slots$139 (Animal Kingdom) to $449 (Magic Kingdom, peak)

Single Pass rides include TRON Lightcycle / Run, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Avatar Flight of Passage.

Disney resort guests can book Lightning Lane 7 days before arrival for their whole stay; off-site guests can book 3 days before each park day. While this can be an expensive added expenses, if you have no plans on returning to Disney World, it’s likely worth paying for Lightning Lanes so you can maximize your time.

Disney PhotoPass (Memory Maker)

PhotoPass photographers shoot your family at landmarks and character meets, and ride photos link to your account. Buying the Memory Maker package before your trip is cheaper than buying at the park. This is one of the first things to cut if you’re looking to save.

How much does it cost to stay at Disney World?

Disney-owned hotels cost about $150 to $450 a night for a value resort, $300 to $600 for a moderate and $500 or more for a deluxe. Off-site hotels near Disney run about $100 to $225 a night. You also need to factor in the 12.5% hotel tax in Orange County.

Resort categoryTypical nightly rateExamplesBest for
Value$150–$450All-Star Movies, Pop Century, Art of AnimationFamilies who just need a bed and a pool
Moderate$300–$600Caribbean Beach, Port Orleans, Coronado SpringsNicer pools and table-service dining

Off-site hotel$100–$225Hotels on the Vineland Road corridor and at Disney SpringsLower cost, free breakfast, points stays
Vacation home$150–$400Kissimmee and Celebration rentalsBig families, kitchens, private pools

Rates swing widely by date. Pop Century ranges from about $205 to $450 a night, and some value rooms for March 2027 are already above $300.

What you get for staying at a Disney hotel

  • 30 minutes of early theme park entry every day, at every park
  • Free self-parking at your hotel and at the theme parks (a $35/day saving)
  • Lightning Lane booking 7 days before arrival, instead of 3
  • Free buses, boats, monorail and Skyliner to the parks
  • Extended evening hours on select nights (deluxe and deluxe villa guests only)

Disney-owned resorts don’t charge resort fees which can save you $25 – $50 a night.

Off-site hotels near Disney World

Hotels 5 to 10 minutes away usually cost $100 to $225 a night, and many include breakfast. The Vineland Road corridor near Disney Springs has Marriott, Hilton and IHG properties, which you can book with points. Some include a park shuttle, but these shuttles are limited and timing may not work for your needs.

Points tip: the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin are Marriott Bonvoy hotels inside Disney World. They get early entry like Disney resorts, but they do charge a resort fee and parking.

Vacation homes

Kissimmee and Celebration rentals cost about $150 to $400 a night, from one-bedroom condos to eight-bedroom homes with private pools. Most are within a 15-minute drive of Disney. A kitchen lets you skip restaurant breakfasts and dinners, which adds up fast for a family.

How Much Does it Cost to go to Disney World Shearton

How much are flights to Disney World?

Budget about $300 to $600 per person round trip to Orlando International Airport (MCO) from most of North America. Off-peak weekday flights can dip under $300; spring break and Christmas can top $600.

Flights from Canada

Air Canada, WestJet and Porter all fly nonstop to Orlando. Porter flies nonstop from Toronto Pearson, Hamilton and Ottawa, plus seasonal Halifax service, with base fares starting around CAD $195 one way. Flight-and-hotel packages can also be cheap, but add bag and seat fees before you compare.

Should you drive instead?

Driving can save $1,000 or more for a family of four, but Toronto to Orlando is about 1,800 km, roughly 18 to 20 hours each way. Budget two travel days, a hotel night and gas in each direction. The savings is significant, but the time spent driving is not ideal.

Do you need a car at Disney World?

You don’t need a car if you stay at a Disney resort; you probably do if you stay off-site. Disney buses, boats, the monorail and the Skyliner connect every Disney hotel with every park.

Getting aroundCostGood to know
Disney transportationFree for Disney resort guestsAllow 45–60 minutes door to door
Hotel shuttleUsually freeLimited schedule; confirm before booking
RideshareAbout $15–$30 per trip nearby; more from the airportCosts add up with daily trips
Rental carAbout $50–$75 a dayPlus gas, parking and car seats

Car seats from rental companies cost at least $10 per seat, per day, so bring your own if you can. Airline and travel-site bundles sometimes drop car rentals to $20 to $30 a day.

How much is parking at Disney World?

Standard theme park parking costs $35 a day, and preferred parking costs $50 to $60. Parking is free for Disney resort guests, Annual Passholders, the water parks and Disney Springs.

  • Standard theme park parking: $35 per day
  • Preferred parking: $50–$60 per day
  • Oversized vehicles: $40 per day
  • Disney resort guests: free self-parking at hotel and parks
  • Water parks and Disney Springs: free

One payment covers every theme park that day, so park hopping doesn’t cost extra. Staying off-site with 5 park days? Budget $175 for parking.

How much does it cost to go to Disney World Toy Story

How much does food cost at Disney World?

Budget $50 to $100 per person, per day for food at Disney World. Quick-service entrées cost $14 to $18, table-service meals start around $30 to $40 per adult, and character dining often tops $50.

Sample daily food budget (per person)

  • Breakfast: $10–$15 (or free at many off-site hotels)
  • Lunch: $18–$25
  • Dinner: $25–$45
  • Snacks: $10–$15 per person (popcorn is about $6, a Mickey pretzel about $8.50)

You’re allowed to bring your own food and drinks into every Disney World park, as long as there’s no glass or loose ice. Packing breakfast bars, sandwiches and refillable water bottles is the easiest way to save. Many snacks, like turkey legs and pretzels, are big enough to share.

Is the Disney Dining Plan worth it?

The Disney Dining Plan is only worth it if you’d eat that much anyway, or when kids eat free.

Dining plan (per night)2026 adult2026 child2027 adult2027 child
Quick-Service Dining Plan$60.47Free$62.78$25.82
Disney Dining Plan (table service)$98.59Free$99.87$31.94
Deluxe Dining Plan (returns 2027)——$163.01$46.85

For a family of four on the 2027 table-service plan, that’s about $1,845 for 7 nights, before tips and drinks outside the plan.

How much do Disney souvenirs cost?

Plan on $200 to $800 for souvenirs, depending on your kids. Give each child a set budget before you arrive, or buy Disney gear at home before the trip.

ItemTypical cost
Keychains and small items$10–$15
Mickey ears$30–$45
Plush toys$20–$40
T-shirts and clothing$30–$70
Spirit jerseys and collectibles$75–$100+

Pin trading gets expensive fast. Buying a pin lot online before your trip is a cheaper way to start.

When is the cheapest time to go to Disney World?

The cheapest times to visit are mid-January to early February, late August through September, and early November before Thanksgiving. Tickets, hotels and Lightning Lane are all cheaper on these dates.

  • Mid-January to early February: lowest ticket prices after the holidays (avoid Marathon Weekend)
  • Late April to mid-May: good weather, moderate prices after Easter
  • Late August to September: lowest hotel rates, but hot and it’s hurricane season
  • Early November: after Halloween and before Thanksgiving

Avoid spring break, July and Christmas to New Year’s, when 1-day tickets hit $200+. Disney usually raises prices in October each year, so book tickets early for next year.

What’s new at Disney World in 2026 and 2027?

Several new rides and lands are opening, which could push crowds and prices up.

  • Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets (Hollywood Studios): opened 2026
  • The Magic of Disney Animation (Hollywood Studios): opened September 2026
  • Tropical Americas (Animal Kingdom): opening 2027, with an Encanto ride and a new Indiana Jones ride
  • Monstropolis (Hollywood Studios): first phase expected 2027
  • Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge (new deluxe resort): expected 2027

How to save money on a Disney World trip

The biggest savings come from your travel dates, your hotel and how you pay. Food and souvenirs matter less than most people think.

  1. Go off-peak. The same 1-day ticket can cost $80 less in January than at Christmas.
  2. Buy 4+ day tickets. The per-day price drops sharply after day 3.
  3. Weigh free parking against hotel price. A Disney value resort saves $35 a day in parking and removes the need for a rental car.
  4. Use points for flights and off-site hotels. Aeroplan, WestJet Rewards, Marriott Bonvoy and Hilton Honors can cover thousands of dollars of the trip.
  5. Pay with a no-FX-fee credit card. Canadians save 2.5% on every US-dollar purchase.
  6. Pack snacks and water. Outside food is allowed in every park.
  7. Buy Lightning Lane selectively. Use it at Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios; skip it at Animal Kingdom.
  8. Buy discounted Disney gift cards. Use them for tickets, food and souvenirs if your grocery or rewards program offers them at a discount.

The bottom line

A week at Disney World costs a family of four about $7,000 to $15,000 USD in 2026–2027, and around $9,800 for a typical mid-range trip. That’s a lot of money, but with off-peak dates, points and a clear daily budget, most families can bring it closer to the low end.

If you went to Disney as a kid, thank your parents. Planning more theme park trips? See my guides to the cost of Universal Orlando, Disneyland and Tokyo Disneyland.

Great post and I love the cost breakdown! We’re in the process of trying to find something affordable to do on our non-Disney park days while in Florida. I found an attraction that was just like Sea World but a bit cheaper (about $49 tickets) but was wondering if you ever went to Disney Springs which is nearby all the parks and what you thought of it. Is it just shopping and food? Or actual things to do?

    • Raquel on July 21, 2019 at 1:55 PM

      Hello Chonce,
I’ve been to Orlando many times as well as Disney Springs. DS is mostly shopping and food but they do have a bowling alley (Splitsville) and a movie theater (AMC) that you and your family might enjoy. In the evenings there is usually entertainment from various artist (local) around the area, so it’s pretty fun to grab a bite or drink and enjoy the music. Hope this helped and happy vacation .

  7. Clint on December 5, 2018 at 11:35 AM

Great info Barry. We visited Disney in early January/17 (family of 5). I wasn’t afraid of doing my research and shopping around. It was a 12 day trip with 7 days at Disney. Our whole trip cost $6200 (CDN). We had airmiles to use for three Disney tickets. Rented a condo with a 15 minute drive. Bought groceries for breakfast and packed lunches for everyday in Disney. Purchased dinners on site in Disney. We even drove to Cocoa Beach for a day to enjoy the ocean.

It was an amazing trip. The planning sure makes it worth while. It can save you a lot of money and headaches.

    Keep the great information coming.

    • Loku on January 11, 2019 at 3:19 PM

Hi Clint. Is this amount with airfare? and what type of Disney ticket did you purchase?

      • Clint on January 11, 2019 at 7:39 PM

        Hi Loku.

Yes that includes airfare. We are in Winnipeg and I found cheap fights through Allegiant in Grand Forks. Now Flair Air has lots of cheap flights to Orlando from Winnipeg.

We purchased 1 park a day tickets. It is so huge there that you need at least a full day per park to see everything you want.

I am an old time fan of Tampa, FL. I have been to the Disneyland several times. I used to drive down from Tampa. But if you are coming from out of town my best recommendation for stay would be in Kissemmee which is close to the Disney parks. Tye http://www.airbnb.com. I can promise you that you will be surprised that you can get such lovely accommodation at such low prices. They are excellent value for money and all found. You may have to rent a car if you use Airbnb accommodation..

Yes, Kissimmee offers a lot of value since there are lots of vacation homes and Airbnbs available there.

I have been to Disney in orlando several and stayed on and off site. You can take an overseas trip to Rome or Paris for a week cheaper than Disney. However Disney is the most fun place I’ve been and worth the money.

    • Barry Choi on November 17, 2019 at 12:31 PM

      Archie,

Yes, Disney World is not a cheap place to visit. It’s a different experience than visiting other countries, but it’s an amazing experience nonetheless.

      • Brian Henry on December 1, 2019 at 1:22 PM

I am wondering if the tickets for Disney from Visit Orlando are OK. They are cheaper than getting it just from Disney. Thank you very much. Even with the Canadian discount they are cheaper but maybe they are not the same tickets. I checked for a 4 day ticket one park per day.

        • Barry Choi on December 1, 2019 at 1:28 PM

          Brian,

Visit Orlando is the official tourism board of Orlando so the tickets are 100% legit. It’s possible that the price is lower because they have their Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale right now where all tickets are 10% off which includes mutl-day tickets or exclusive offers they have.

I just went for new years 2020. Parking was $25/day for standard car. Sometimes we took a bus, sometimes we took an Uber. The water park is by far the best value and the least crowded. I love Disney, but do not recommend going during Christmas week. By far the least enjoyable time I’ve ever had, although still a good time. Just lots of people which adds to wait times at every turn. Highly recommend going during.Food & Wine festival time, Halloween, and March

    • Barry Choi on January 5, 2020 at 4:30 PM

      Lisa,

I went in early November when crowds are more manageable and it was still crazy busy/ I love Disney too, but the last two times I’ve been have not been as fun. The fast pass system was good when it started, but it feels like every ride is gone right away now unless you’re staying on-site.

  18. Jackie on January 22, 2020 at 8:29 PM

Very helpful article! What is the fast pass system?

    • Barry Choi on January 22, 2020 at 9:16 PM

      Jackie,

Fast Pass allows you to pick a few rides where you get a dedicated time to go on them. Basically, you don’t need to wait in line. That said, although every ride is available for Fast PAss, there isn’t an unlimited amount so the rides you want me not be available for Fast Pass.

We just went August 2020 (family of 4 for a week) and spent like twice that amount staying in a moderate hotel with park tickets…. Dining package wasn’t available due to Covid (which is totally the way to go). Our family had a nice time but was a much different experience as much was closed or not available and very limited parades/ NO character interactions…. But non the less we did have a nice time…… Avoid Beauty & Beast Dinner that was overly priced and ruined my daughter’s birthday which was the reason for our trip…..
