We got awarded 10000 points for ‘continuity spend 100’ for a $109 order via PC Express Delivery. Anyone able to explain why we got it?

In reply to John Houston. I spent $85 on gas today and paid with my PC World Elite Mastercard that is linked to my Optimum card. I received 5020 points or $5.20. that works out to be roughly a 6% saving.

So the Scotia Momentuma Visa Infinite Cash Back Card earns you 4% cash back at groceries stores and recurring payments, 2% on gas and daily transit, and 1% on everything else.

For the PC Financial World Elite Mastercard, you earn 30 PC optimum points per $1 spent at loblaws-owned grocery stores and 10 points on all other purchaes. That works out to a 3% and 1% return respectively. That said, PC Optimum points can be more valuable if you redeem them during bonus redemption events. To be honest, both cards are similar, it just depends on how much you value your PC Optimum points.

In reply to SUSAN. Hey Susan, The gamification of PC Optimum is part of the fun. Getting a PC Financial card is worth it IMO since you can earn more points at Loblaws-owned grocery stores.

I just bought $400 of stuff for $45 (basically the tax). We seldom shop at SDM because their prices are inflated. We shop at Real Canadian Superstore or No Frills. We don’t use the PC credit card. You have to “gamify” the system by taking advantage of special promos. This haul was done on the spend your points event where 250,000 points (normally worth $250) are worth $400. Almost everything we bought for this haul (and when we shop there in general) were on sale. Their sale prices are usually reasonable. For example I bought 4 x 2L bottles of Tide for $11 each. I also bought one expensive gift, the men’s cologne sampler ($115). We stock up on shampoo, toothpaste, and frozen foods. We do this every year.

If you’re not using a PC Financial credit card, the only way to earn points is through in-store and targeted promotions. To get better offers, you need to scan your card even when you’re not earning points. You could also take advantage of 20X the points events at Shoppers Drug Mart

What a terrible rewards program this has become. I used to be able to get points for many more purchases and I’m sure as shredded wheat not getting another credit card for the “privilege”.
Forget you PC Optimum. No sense even scanning it anymore. If I don’t get any points; you don’t get to know what I buy.
