Absolutely not worth the money. I paid for the full live service and the so called tax “experts” were a joke. The first one has 5 years of experience and didn’t know how to handle basic spousal amount since my wife was not working; he said he will get back to you. I complained and they assigned another guy with 20+ years of experience. The first version of the filing showed I owed the government $1200. He didn’t understand a clawed back RRSP over-payment that was refunded by the government and he added it as income to my return! Then we filed and got a small refund. Then I realized he didn’t include the credits for staycation in Ontario and the interest I paid on money I borrowed for my investments. All this information was provided. He had to file an adjustments to my filed return and that attracted the attention of the Tax auditors as it does most of the time. You would use this type of service to maximize your tax credits, but these people are not competent enough to do that. I will not use this service again; not worth the money.

In reply to Dee. Dee, At the time I did the review/process, TurboTax had some staffing issues which resulted in longer than expected response times. I've been assured by them that those issues have been resolved so a normal return should only take a few hours.

Hi Barry – you mention that it would sometimes take a couple of days to get an answer but then you say the entire process took a few hours. I’m confused. Can you please clarify?

In reply to Jo. Hey Jo, I actually used the self employed version in the past. TurboTax wanted me to review the Full Service version for this sponsored post since it would be more relevant to many of my readers.

Hi Barry, since you’re a freelancer, shouldn’t you have used the self employed version (which is more expensive at $200)?
