Instead of earning travel rewards points, you earn SCENE points which is the loyalty program for Cineplex theatres. The sign up bonus of 2,500 SCENE points is good for two free movies and you’ll earn 5 SCENE points for every $1 you spend at Cineplex theatres or at cineplex.com which is great. Scotiabank Value Visa

  • $29 annual fee
  • 0.99% interest rate on balance transfers for the first 6 months
  • 12.99% interest rate after the promotional period ends
  • Up to 25% off at participating Avis car rental locations

If you’re currently in debt or you typically carry a balance on your credit card then you should take a look at the Scotiabank Value Visa. What makes this card a winner is that you get an optional balance transfer where you’ll pay 0.99% interest for six months. With such a low interest rate, you can concentrate on paying down your debt. Once the promotional period ends, your interest rate goes up to 12.99%, but that’s still much lower than the standard interest rate of 19.99% that most credit cards charge. Although the card does have an annual fee of $29, there is no fee to make a balance transfer. The Scotiabank Value Visa is one of the best balance transfer credit cards in Canada so consider getting it if you want to reduce your debt.

Scotiabank No fee Value Visa

  • No annual fee
  • 3.99% interest rate on balance transfers for the first 6 months
  • 16.99% interest rate after the promotional period ends
  • Up to 25% off at participating Avis car rental locations

Since you’re not paying a yearly fee, the benefits aren’t as good as the fee version. With this card, your promotional balance transfer rate for 6 months is 3.99%. Once that promotional period ends, it goes up to 16.99%. Obviously it’s always in your best interest to not carry a balance, but at least this card charges slightly lower interest compared to other credit cards on the market.
