I just moved into a new townhouse with my son. I live on the first level. Because of my illness I have to. Its one big open flat with no bedroom or a closet. Its huge . I have had Custom closets build prior. I always go with Closet stretchers. They do really great work. There prices is high as well. Ive decided to use one of the walls in my flat to build a closet. It will cost me about $2500. Or there about. While I think it’s very expensive for someone who dosen’t have a job. It’s well needed. I’ve never had to put my clothes prior in boxes. I need to get my clothes out of those boxes ASAP. You don’t get much for $2500. But it’s a start.

What I don’t agree with is the cost your contractor charged for removing the old wire shelves. It probably took all of 3 hours to do that work and he charged you $1500. It just seems outrageuous

It cost me $1040 to organize 6 reach in closets , not including doors. Even if I pay for the 11 doors $200/ pcs I would not get close to half of what you paid for one closet.

Hi Jem,

Since a designer came to our place, we got exactly what we wanted. She gave us a lot of different suggestions and then designed based on what we wanted. I personally don’t mind having my dirty shoes in there since the alternative is to have them all outside in the hallway which annoys me even more.

How are the designs working for you? Last year, I also got custom closets through the Costco vendor where it was $2,000 (+$200 cash to remove/paint old shelves) for my items. My closets were definitely smaller than yours (double-door). I’m really happy with the design, I just wish there was an option to display my outfit for the next day facing “forward” like Burberry’s racks. I still feel very uncomfortable having shoes (esp used/dirty) ones in my closet but it may just be an Asian ocd-habit my parents enforced.

I think living in a condo, that’s a great use of your money. I personally feel more stressed when I’m living in a home that’s full of clutter with no organization. So this would be a good financial and personal investment in a living space haha!

It’s also a storage issue. I live in a condo so I can’t exactly hide thins in my basement or garage. I have a limited amount of space so I decide to maximize them with these closets.
