The issues I have identified that I hadn’t accounted for when collecting points under this program. The points don’t get you the booking, they make the booking for you and then credit your credit card. This is a problem when using points for travel outside of Canada. You are expected to pay at the hotel with your BMO credit card. The problem is that now I am subjected to a fluctuating exchange rate. I booked when I did, because of the strength of the Canadian dollar to the US dollar, but more concerning is the 2.5% foreign exchange fee. By applying this fee they are reducing the value of their points.

Please make this apparent in this cards summary. It is an important factor when collecting points in Canada as many of us vacation out of Country.

A little update is required here. I was just about to redeem my points and I see the redemption is getting a bit worse! Here is the table for most gift cards making the value more like 0.4-0.45 sadly.
