In reply to Joseph. Mmm not ready to retire yet! But will like to eventually go to my home resort at westgate lakes resort / spa in Orlando. Have owned since 98. Eventually would like to stay down there for a few months. Any thoughts we own 3 bedroom which can be 1 bedroom each totaling 3 weeks if wanted.

This entire message board is full of timeshare salespeople. As the author implies: There is *no* timeshare that is worth the time and expense and headache timeshare ownership entails. The only analogy I can think of is a mob boss who keeps upping the “protection fee” to avoid your getting your legs broken. If anyone out there is even considering this, two words: Get out … while you still have the chance.

We bought 2 in the secondary market in the last 6 years and paid about $700.00 in total for them. Seller paid all closing costs. We did have to pay the activation fee of $655.00. Never buy them at full price,

In reply to Lori Lajsn. I fully agree with the writer on Time Share Business being a Big Scam. I was an owner of one week at a Goa Resort for a few years and I gave up the ownership for free as i got tired of paying High Maintenance charges every year to keep the membership going. I also was unable to sell my unit as the Time Share Sales companies are also running a scam.

I have a deeded timeshare in Tahoe and we love it as it encouraged us to go on vacation and go to countries and various parts of the States we’ve never been before. I’m not a fan of the various exchange and annual fees that come with it but if you add it up, for me it is a reasonable price. My overall cost is $140/day for a 2 week vacation in 2 different places each year. We usually stay at 5 star places with 2 bedroom suites that comes with a full kitchen which are at least $400-$500/night so it is worth having a timeshare. The downside: you have to manage your allotted time and be patient. If you’re flexible with availability and location, it is definitely worth it. We got to stay in San Francisco which are $300-$500/night for my cost! It is preference and my timeshare is worth it!
