I don't think the welcome bonus will increase until travel is becoming more common. The increased offers are meant to keep existing customers, so I assume that's where their focus is. Once current cardholders can use their travel benefits again, Amex will likely switch their focus back to new customers. I doubt they'll ever add as many perks compared to what's available in the US now.

Hey, great post! Very useful to know the differences when comparing the cards. I've been thinking about getting one again. It's now December though and the old welcome bonus still has not come back. They've announced some new features here in Canada like the installment program and the Aeroplan partnership, but the welcome bonus is still the same. In the US they have increased it, and seem to be planning on adding more perks to the cards next year. Do you still think the welcome bonus will be back next year here in Canada? Do you think they will add the same US perks here too?
Thanks!

I love the AMEX platinum for all the rewards benefits, but also have found good uses for the concierge. Before I got the card I honestly didn't think I was going to use this service much, but it's a great way for me to divest some mundane tasks.

C M,

What I mean is that if you're charging tens of thousands of dollars to your personal card and using it for business purposes, there's a good chance the credit card provider will make you switch to a business card.

YOu can use your personal card for business expenses if the company reimburses you.

You mention: "A reminder, you’re not technically supposed to be using a personal card for business expenses."

I have not seen this condition stated by AMEX before.

Does this apply to business owners only, using a personal card and not an AMEX Business card?

Does this also apply to employees who use their AMEX personal cards for business-related travel expenses and are subsequently reimbursed by their companies?

Thank you for any further info provided.

VancT,

AMex doesn't list their requirements online. I know they don't have a formal income requirement for their cards so I'm guessing things are probably based on your credit score.

Hi, where can I see how you qualify for each card? How much does your annual salary need to be, and your credit score, to be approved, for each? I can't seem to locate that info in searches and I don't want to waste an application on a high end card if I do not qualify.
