I believe now you have to request for the QR codes to access the automated Priority Security gates in YYZ via this link: https://yyz.americanexpress.com/

You can request up to 10 QR codes each time. It is said that the Amex card holder should be in the travelling party.

I just paid $794 less per ticket for a total savings of $2,382 for 3 round trip business class flights from YYZ to SIN for this August through Amex's International Airline Program.

The Amex Platinum card is definitely a card worth keeping. For the $699 annual fee, membership has its privileges. ;-)

Hey Ron,

No, your extended travel insurance does not apply if you transfer your points to Aeroplan unless you pay the balance with an Aeroplan credit card.

If you use your points via the American Express travel portal and pay the balance with your Amex Platinum, your extended travel insurance applies. If there's no balance, insurance applies

Travel medical applies regardless.

Hi Barry, thanks for the post here.

For Travel Insurance, it says that you will be covered if the entire purchase was put on the Platinum card. My question is if you transfer your points to Aeroplan and use them to purchase the entire travel, are you still eligible for travel insurance coverage? Second, if you use your all of you points directly with Amex travel for the full ticket price, does that still count towards getting travel insurance?

Thank you

MC,

You generate priority QR codes here - https://yyz.americanexpress.com/

You can generate up to 10 at once. Each travelling companion would get one.

Hey Simon,

If you have a Social Security Number, US Bank account, and a US address is actually really easy to get a US credit card.

Thanks Barry.
Is there any reason why I couldn’t apply for a US Amex card, I am building a house in Arizona, and only use the card in the US?

Simon,

Yes, a 2.5% foreign exchange fee applies for any purchase not made in Canadian dollars.

You might want to consider one of these cards - https://www.moneywehave.com/the-best-no-foreign-transaction-fee-credit-cards-in-canada/

That said, I frequently travel too. I use the Amex Platinum card for lounge access and Scotiabank passport card for purchases.
