One option is to pivot to the regular Gold Rewards Card. You get 5K points when spending $1K each month, for 12 months, so that’s 60K total. That’s a pretty good offer.

Hey Barry! I went in to revisit this card today and looks like you just updated the blog post, however do you know what the current promo is? I went to revisit it because I thought I remembered a sign up bonus awhile back of 70k or 75k points and now looks like 40k?

Hey Chris,

Generally speaking, the rule only applies if you’re applying for the same card. If you didn’t hold the Gold Business before, you’re likely fine. Plus, they recently changed the Business Gold so it’s considered a new card now.

I would like to get the Gold Business Amex. I used to have the Platinum Business, and currently have the Bonvoy Business card. The application says that current or former small business cardholders are not entitled to the welcome bonus. Any info on that?

I’m confused on the last line of this quote “That being said, if you’re applying for this card just for the signup bonus, then of course it’s worth it. The first year is free, and easily ranks as one of the best travel credit cards in Canada.” How is the first year free when you clearly said there is $250 annual fee that can’t be waived in the first year?
