Huge difference between you forgetting about the expiry of your buddy pass and not being able to use a buddy pass before the expiry because of THEIR website issues. The same goes for all the customers that had their points disappear from their accounts. LOTS of angry people on social media!

i’m thrilled to get 15,000. better than a kick in the teeth. my buddy pass expired and i just called aeroplan and they are putting the request through for me. it’s better than nothing. thank you so much for telling me.

I just called and talked to an agent bc mine is going to expire next month and I can’t find anyone who won’t annoy the crap out of me after two days, and was told that the Pass MUST expire before requesting the conversion. Personally, that makes no sense, as once it’s expired, it’s not worth anything, but also, no matter which menu option you select when calling Aeroplan, and no matter the time of day, you can NOT get through. You end up being advised to check their website, which is obviously missing all kinds of info, hence, the willingness to call and wait on hold for hours on end. This guy also said he didn’t know the particulars of the conversion, only that he was absolutely sure it could be done, so take your chances if you dare!

Thanks for reporting back. Hopefully it was just some glitch since customer service was able to apply it for you.

I waited a couple of days and tried again. Wouldn’t work. Weird thing was I tried different days – Dec or Jan worked OK. Feb or later only applied buddy pass for one direction. Decided to waste some time on hold so phoned AC – hold was not bad, about 45 minutes (there is options in phone menu for buddy pass bookings) and got a person who booked it
no problem – but could not say why it would not work online. Now just have to hope AC doesn’t change or cancel my flights down the road.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Cancelled my booking ( and amazing buddy pass was restored immediately ) Tried rebooking and getting same problem. – “Buddy pass not applicable” on one leg. Tried different day, different flight Only difference is that one time pass was denied on outgoing legs instead of return, Will try again tomorrow. If only one could contact AC Cust service

If you’re purchasing a return ticket, the Buddy pass should automatically apply for both legs.
